Shady Tree Playground

If you live anywhere near this corner of Long Beach, you already know this is the spot to hit when summer gets brutal. The tree cover here is genuinely impressive — your kids can dig around in the sandbox or take turns on the swings without you both melting in direct sun the whole time. It’s classic playground stuff: slides, swings, sandbox, nothing fancy, but little ones in that 2-to-12 range honestly don’t need much more than that. Grab a picnic table, bring lunch, and you’ll actually want to stick around for a while. It’s quieter than a lot of parks in the area, which is either a selling point or a dealbreaker depending on what you’re after — for me, it’s a selling point.
