Playground

If you live on the west side of the Big Island, this Waimea playground is probably already in your regular rotation. The enclosed play area gives parents some breathing room while kids work through the slides, swings, and climbing structure — and the shade trees actually make a difference up here where the weather can go either way. Picnic tables mean you can stretch out a full afternoon without packing up the minute someone gets hungry. The open grass field is a bonus for older kids who burn off energy faster than the equipment can handle. Good parking, easy sightlines, solid local spot for the 3-to-10 crowd.
