Fort Sherman Playground

Right on the edge of downtown Coeur d’Alene, this spot sits on what used to be an actual U.S. Army fort from the 1870s — so there’s some real history under your feet while the kids run around. The lake is basically right there, which means you’re getting those views without having to hike anywhere or pay for parking at the resort. It’s the kind of place locals know about but doesn’t always show up on the tourist lists. Worth a stop if you’re already doing the lakefront area.
