Swan Lake State Park

If you haven’t made it out to Swan Lake yet, you’re genuinely missing one of Carroll’s best-kept secrets. The lake draws all kinds of wildlife — we’re talking bison, bald eagles, actual swans — so bring binoculars if you have them. You can rent a paddle boat or kayak and spend a few hours out on the water, or just stick to the walking trails if you’d rather keep your feet dry. Camping here feels properly quiet, none of that packed-campground chaos. Restrooms on site, trails for all fitness levels, and enough space that it never really feels crowded even on a decent weather weekend.
