Friendship Park

East New Market doesn’t have a ton going on, but Friendship Park is genuinely worth stopping at if you’re in the area with kids. The playground covers the bases well — swings, a merry-go-round, slides, and a climbing structure — and the mulch underfoot makes it feel like someone actually thought about little ones taking tumbles. It’s a quiet neighborhood spot, so don’t expect crowds, which honestly is part of the appeal. Older kids can burn energy on the open grass field while parents do a lap or two on the walking path. Good for ages 2 through 12, and one of those places that just feels easy.
