The kayak launch gives you direct access to the Patuxent River and the creeks feeding into it — it’s one of the better put-in spots around here if you know where to look. There’s a garden maze that kids actually get a kick out of, plus wooded trails that connect to some decent fishing along the pier. Pack a lunch, grab one of the picnic tables near the grills, and you’ve got a solid half-day without spending much. It’s the kind of spot locals keep coming back to, not because it’s flashy, but because it quietly does a lot of things well.
