Schaar’s Bluff Playground

If you haven’t made the drive out to this spot along the bluffs yet, you’re missing out. The trails here are the real draw — paved and unpaved options weave through the woods, and it’s genuinely one of those places where you forget you’re still in the metro area. There are separate play zones for littles and older kids, which makes a huge difference when you’ve got a wide age range in tow. Shade trees and benches are actually plentiful (not just technically present like at some parks), and the wood chip surface under the equipment is solid. Pack snacks, plan for more time than you think you need, and yes — keep an eye out for eagles.
