Shepard State Park

If you haven’t taken the kids to Shepard State Park yet, you’re missing out on one of the better-kept secrets in Gautier. The playground works well for the 2-12 crowd, and there’s a solid open grass field where they can just run wild for a while. Shade trees, picnic tables, clean restrooms — the park staff clearly takes pride in keeping everything in good shape. The trails push back into forested areas near the marsh, so if your kids are into spotting birds or just poking around in nature, this place delivers. It’s quiet, it’s local, and it doesn’t feel overrun on a weekend morning.
