If you haven’t taken your kids to Steinberg Playground yet, you’re missing out on one of Columbia’s best kept secrets. The space-themed setup is genuinely cool — we’re talking rocket ship jungle gyms, dinosaur fossils embedded in the ground, and climbing structures with massive tractor tires that older kids actually want to spend time on. Slides, tunnels, and swings cover the younger crowd, and there’s enough open grass field and walking path nearby that adults don’t feel like they’re just standing around waiting. Shaded seating and picnic tables make it easy to actually stay awhile, and the layout keeps the whole area visible so you’re not constantly chasing anyone down. The forest trail access right there is a bonus if you want to stretch the trip into something longer.
