If you’re staying at the Cliffs at Long Creek and need a break from the lake, the outdoor chess setup is a solid way to kill an afternoon. It’s low-key, there are benches to sit on, and honestly it’s the kind of thing that ends up being more fun than you’d expect. Works for all ages — kids figuring out the pieces, adults taking it way too seriously, you know how it goes. Ridgedale doesn’t have a ton of walk-up activities like this, so it’s a nice little bonus.
