If you live anywhere near Old Bethpage, this is probably already your default Saturday spot — and for good reason. The climbing structure keeps kids in the 2-10 range genuinely occupied, and the shade trees actually do their job, so you’re not melting on a bench while you wait. Pack a lunch, because the picnic tables here are plentiful and the whole setup makes it easy to make a day of it. Beyond the playground itself, there’s a basketball court, a bike track, walking paths, and a big open field, so older siblings and adults don’t end up just staring at their phones. The park is consistently well-maintained, which honestly isn’t something you can say about every spot on Long Island.
