Ranlo Park Playground

This little park punches above its weight for a quiet neighborhood spot. You’ve got swings, a climbing structure, a merry-go-round, and a spray ground — which, on a July afternoon in Gastonia, is basically a lifesaver. The enclosed play area makes it a lot easier to relax if you’ve got toddlers running in different directions, and the restrooms actually being there (and clean) is something you learn to appreciate fast. Pack a cooler, grab one of the picnic tables by the grills, and you can make a full afternoon of it. The bike track is a nice bonus for older kids who’ve outgrown the playground but still need something to do.
