If your kid needs to touch every bug they find and you’re okay with muddy shoes, this is your place. The Chickadee Nature Discovery Area in Mohnton is less “playground” and more “let them loose in the woods” — which is honestly refreshing. There’s an open grass field, forest edges to poke around in, and the kind of unstructured time that kids don’t get nearly enough of. Slugs, toads, sticks, mud — that’s the equipment here. Best for the 3-to-10 crowd who still think turning over rocks is the best part of any outing.
