Mitchell Playground

If you’ve got kids who can’t sit still, Mitchell Playground on the west side of Charleston gives them plenty of room to burn it off. The open grass field and soccer area see a lot of action on weekends — local youth leagues have basically claimed this spot as their home base. There’s a basketball court too, so older kids aren’t stuck hovering over the little ones on the slides and swings. Speaking of which, the equipment covers a solid age range, so a 4-year-old and a 12-year-old can both find something to do without anyone complaining. It’s an urban park that actually works hard for the neighborhood.
