Optimist Park is one of those solid neighborhood spots that doesn’t try too hard but delivers exactly what you need. The climbing structure, slides, and swings cover the bases for kids of pretty much any age, and the shade trees actually make a difference on a hot Wisconsin summer afternoon. Parents can keep an eye on everything easily from the benches and picnic tables — the layout is open enough that you’re not constantly craning your neck. There’s a walking path and a decent stretch of open grass if the kids need to burn off extra energy after the playground. Parking is right there, which sounds small but honestly makes the whole trip easier.
