Fox River Park

If you want to get kids off screens and into actual nature, this park delivers. The trails wind through real forest — not just a strip of trees between subdivisions — and the river access gives the whole place a wild feel that’s hard to find this close to town. Picnic tables and BBQ grills make it easy to hang out for a few hours, and the shade trees actually do their job on hot days. The playground has a soft fall surface made from recycled shoes, which sounds weird but kids don’t care — they just run around on it like it’s normal. Honestly one of the better spots in Waukesha for families who want more than a standard swing set.
