Doepke Recreation Area

If you’re local to Wausau, Doepke is probably already on your radar — and for good reason. The playground has a solid mix of slides, swings, a climbing structure, and a play train that younger kids absolutely lose their minds over. There’s a fenced-in area for the little ones, which is genuinely useful when you’ve got a toddler and a 9-year-old to keep track of at the same time. Shade trees, clean restrooms, picnic tables — it’s one of those parks where you can actually settle in for a few hours without feeling like you’re roughing it. The walking path winds out toward wooded areas and a nearby pond, so once the kids burn off some energy, it’s worth taking a loop through before you head home.
