Houndwell Park Playground

Right in the middle of Southampton, this little park punches above its weight for a city-centre spot. The sandpit with its concrete dinosaurs is genuinely the main event — kids absolutely lose their minds for it, and it keeps them occupied longer than you’d expect. There’s also a solid climbing castle, a roundabout, swings, and a seesaw, so even if the sand loses its appeal you’ve got options for the 2–12 crowd. A few benches mean you can actually sit down while they burn off energy on the open grass. It’s not huge, but for a quick stop when you’re already in town, it does the job well.
