Matepu Reserve

Locals know Matepu Reserve as one of those spots that actually works for the whole age range — toddlers through to the older kids who need something with a bit more challenge. The climbing structure is the main drawcard, and it’s genuinely good enough to keep the 10-and-12-year-olds occupied rather than standing around looking bored. Come December, the Christmas lights transform the whole reserve into something worth making a special trip for — it gets busy, and rightly so. Worth noting there are no restrooms on site, so plan accordingly. Shade sails are apparently on the way, which will make a real difference during the hotter months.
