Right on the Tauranga waterfront, this playground punches well above its weight for a urban spot. The Hairy Maclary theme is a genuine drawcard — kids who’ve grown up with those books absolutely lose it when they spot the statues. Since the renovation it’s got a solid mix of slides, climbing gear, a sandbox, and a water feature that’ll have younger ones soaked within minutes, plus a basketball half-court for older kids who’ve outgrown the play equipment. Parking’s easy, the restrooms are actually decent, and there’s a bike track and walking path if you want to stretch things out a bit. Honestly, with the beach basically next door and shops nearby, you could make a full afternoon of it without much effort.
