Boon is one of those small local gems that punches above its weight for the under-5 crowd. The shade from the mature trees makes a real difference on a hot Bay of Plenty afternoon — you’re not squinting into the sun the whole time. What sets it apart from your average neighbourhood playground is the little artistic touches: painted tiles, small stone carvings, the kind of detail someone actually put thought into. It’s compact, sure, but the soft ground surfacing and open grass nearby means little ones have room to roam safely. Grab one of the picnic tables and you’ve got a genuinely easy afternoon sorted.
