Hawthorn Lane Play Area

Tucked into one of Pickering’s quieter residential streets, this little play area punches above its weight for toddlers and younger kids. There’s a solid mix of slides, swings, and a climbing structure, plus a disabled-access swing which is genuinely rare to find at a neighbourhood spot this size. The basketball hoop out back gets plenty of use from older kids, so it’s not just the little ones being catered for. That said, locals will tell you the equipment is starting to show its age and could do with some investment — it’s well-used, which is exactly the problem.
