Kilnsey Park

If you’ve not been to Kilnsey Park yet, you’re genuinely missing out — it’s one of those spots that locals keep to themselves for good reason. The setting does a lot of the heavy lifting, with the lake, the trails cutting through towards the forest, and Kilnsey Crag looming in the background making it proper Yorkshire countryside. Kids can mess around with the water feature while the adults grab a coffee from the cafe, which is decent enough that you’d stop there even without the rest of it. Fishing is the big draw for a lot of regulars, and the staff are the kind who actually know the place and seem happy to be there. Parking’s straightforward, the walking path is easy going for all ages, and honestly it’s the sort of afternoon out that doesn’t cost a fortune but feels like it did.
