Newcastle Beach Playground

Right on the seafront in Newcastle, this recently done-up play area is honestly one of the better spots on the coast for keeping the kids entertained while you actually get to enjoy the view. The Mourne Mountains in the background, the sea right there — it’s a decent place to spend an afternoon without feeling like you’re just killing time. It’s fully enclosed, which makes a real difference when you’ve got younger ones running about, and the layout means you can keep an eye on them without having to hover. Toilets on site too, which, if you’ve ever been caught short at a beach playground, you’ll know is not something to take for granted. Suits kids from toddlers right up to about 12, so it works well if yours are different ages.
