Dalkeith Country Park

If you’re anywhere near Edinburgh and haven’t taken the kids to Dalkeith Country Park yet, sort that out. The adventure playground is genuinely one of the better ones in the central belt — wooden climbing structures, slides, and tunnels that’ll keep them busy long enough for you to actually finish a hot drink. Beyond the playground there’s open grass, forest trails, and a pond nearby, so you can stretch the legs properly after. Facilities are solid — parking, loos, picnic tables — and there are food options on site which makes the whole day a lot easier to plan. It stays well maintained too, which isn’t something you can say about every park in the area.
