Mabie Forest – Play Park

If you’re anywhere near Dumfries and have kids to tire out, Mabie Forest Play Park is genuinely one of the better spots in the area. The zipline alone is worth the trip — it’s a proper one, not some token afterthought — and there’s enough going on between the climbing structure, slides, swings, and sandbox to keep different ages happy at the same time. The whole thing sits right on the edge of the forest, so it feels like you’re actually out in nature rather than just a car park with some equipment bolted to tarmac. Pack food and use the BBQ area, because the picnic setup here is decent and the shade trees make it bearable even on a warm day. Walking trails are right there too if the adults need to stretch their legs while the kids burn off steam.
