Cardiff Barrage Children’s Playground

If you’ve not taken the kids down to the Barrage yet, you’re missing out on one of Cardiff’s better afternoons out. The sandbox keeps little ones genuinely occupied while you actually get to enjoy the view — and the bay views here are proper, with the water right there in front of you. It’s a big open space, which parents with energetic toddlers will appreciate more than I can put into words. Toilets are on site, and the walking path along the barrage makes it easy to extend the trip once the kids have burned through their energy. Good for anyone from wobbly two-year-olds up to kids around 12 who still want an excuse to dig in sand.
