If you want a spot in Iowa City where you can actually decompress, this is it. The lake is the main draw — people fish off the banks, rent boats, or just sit and watch the water while the kids run around. Paved trails loop through the whole area, so it works whether you’re on a bike, pushing a stroller, or just walking. Shade trees and covered seating mean it doesn’t become miserable in July, which honestly can’t be said for every park in town. Pack a lunch, use the restrooms, stay longer than you planned.
