Applewood Heights Park

If you live on the west side of Omaha and haven’t made it out to Applewood Heights yet, you’re missing one of the quieter gems in the area. The swings get a real workout from the younger kids, and there’s enough open grass field that older ones can just run without bumping into anyone. Shade is the real selling point here — the trees actually do their job, and the shaded seating means you’re not baking while you watch the kids play. Pack a lunch because the BBQ area and picnic tables make it worth sticking around for a while. It’s clean, it’s calm, and the walking path along the edge of the park connects nicely if you want to stretch your legs before heading home.
