One of the better-kept secrets on the west side, Mt. Echo gives you those sweeping views of downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River that honestly make you stop mid-walk and just stare. The playground is straightforward — slides and swings — but the kids don’t seem to care when there’s that much open grass to run around on. Pack a cooler, grab one of the BBQ spots, and you’ve got yourself a solid afternoon without spending a dime. The walking path winds through some serious tree cover, which means shade when it’s August and miserable, and the basketball court gets real use from locals year-round. Parking is easy, restrooms are on-site, and the forest trails nearby mean you can actually stretch this into a half-day if you want to.
