If you live in this part of Eugene, you probably already know James Park as one of those low-key spots that doesn’t get overcrowded. The climbing structure keeps kids in the 2-12 range busy while parents grab a picnic table under the shade trees — honestly one of the better setups for actually relaxing while your kids play. There’s a solid open grass field that spills into the surrounding neighborhood, and with a pond nearby, the whole place has a calm, unhurried feel to it. Parking is easy, the seating is shaded, and if the wind is right, you might catch a whiff of something baking from nearby. Nothing fancy, but that’s kind of the point.
