If you live on the west side of Springfield, you probably already know Tyson Park is one of the better-kept neighborhood spots in the area. The playground has the usual slides, swings, and climbing structure, but the merry-go-round is genuinely the star — kids make a beeline for it every time. Wood chips underfoot keep things safer for the littler ones, and there’s shaded seating nearby so you’re not just standing around in the sun. Bring a lunch, because the covered picnic area actually has enough tables to be useful. The basketball court and soccer field mean older kids don’t get bored once they’ve outgrown the play structure.
