Patterson Park – Playground

If you live on the east side of Austin, you probably already know Patterson Park is one of the more underrated spots for a solid family afternoon. The playground covers the basics well — swings, slides, enough space for toddlers and older kids to coexist without chaos — and everything is kept up nicely, which honestly isn’t a given around here. The bike track is a real bonus if your kid is in that stage of learning to ride or just wants to loop around without dodging foot traffic. Pack a lunch because the picnic tables actually get shade, and restrooms mean you’re not cutting the trip short. Between the basketball court and the open grass field, there’s enough going on that you can stretch it into a half-day without anyone complaining.
