Montrose Heights Playground

The basketball courts here are legit — smooth surface, good hoops, and enough room that you’re not constantly waiting for a pickup game to clear out. Kids in the 5-16 range have plenty to work with between the climbing structure, the open grass field, and space to just mess around on bikes if you’re teaching a younger one the ropes. The shade trees actually do their job on hot Richmond summers, which isn’t something you can say about every park in the area. Restrooms on site too, so you’re not cutting the afternoon short.
