Carkeek Park

If you haven’t been to Carkeek, you’re missing one of Seattle’s best kept secrets — a park that somehow fits beach access, forest trails, and a salmon-themed slide all into one spot on the north end of the city. Kids lose their minds over the Salmon Slide, and honestly, watching trains rumble along the tracks below while you’re eating lunch at a picnic table never gets old. The trails wind down through the trees toward Puget Sound, so you can go from shade to sand in about ten minutes. Plenty of parking, good shade coverage, and open grass for running around make it genuinely easy for families to spend a full afternoon here without feeling rushed.
