Playground at the lake

Right on the edge of Lake Tekapo, this playground punches well above its weight for such a small town. The zipline is the obvious drawcard — kids queue up for it repeatedly, and honestly, you can’t blame them with those lake and mountain views as a backdrop. There’s also a solid slide and swings, plus a big open grass area when they need to burn off extra energy. Picnic tables and benches mean you can actually sit and eat without balancing food on your lap, and parking is easy enough that you won’t waste half the afternoon circling the block. Best suited to kids five and up who are ready to make the most of the zipline.
