Lakeside Playground

Right on the edge of Lake Tekapo, so the views alone are worth the trip even if you’re not there for the playground itself. It’s been in a bit of a work-in-progress state, so don’t expect everything to be fully up and running — worth checking ahead before you make a special visit. There’s a decent open grass field if the kids just need space to run around. That lake backdrop with the turquoise water is genuinely hard to beat though, especially on a clear Canterbury day.
