Te Ara Atea Sensory Space

Rolleston’s sensory space at Te Ara Atea is genuinely one of the more thoughtful additions to the area — the potager-style growing section alone makes it worth a visit. It’s set up with young adults in mind as much as kids, which you don’t see often enough in community spaces around Canterbury. The open grass field gives it room to breathe. That said, maintenance has been a bit hit and miss lately, so don’t be surprised if some elements are looking a little tired. Still a solid community asset that deserves more attention and upkeep than it’s currently getting.
