Pohe Island Destination Playground

If you live in Whangārei and haven’t made it out to Pohe Island yet, you’re missing out. The playground itself is seriously well set up — zipline, climbing structure, slides, swings, sandbox — enough to keep kids from toddlers right through to the older ones who think they’re too cool for playgrounds (they’re not). Paths are pram and wheelchair friendly, the toilets are actually clean and modern, and parking is easy. Tack on the bike track and the town basin walking loop right there alongside it, and you’ve got a solid half-day out without really trying. The water views don’t hurt either.
