Honestly one of the better spots in Barnard Castle if you want a proper outdoor afternoon without it feeling like a theme park. There are picnic tables set up with views toward the water, and the open grass field gives kids room to just run about while adults actually get to sit down. The trails near the forest edge are worth exploring, and the pond nearby adds a bit of wildlife interest that younger ones tend to love. It’s relaxed, unpretentious, and connects nicely into the riverside walks along the Tees if you fancy stretching your legs further.
