Hillside Park Playground

If you live on the west side of Bend, you probably already know about this one — and if you don’t, fix that. The climbing structure here is genuinely fun, not the tired cookie-cutter stuff you see at half the parks in town, and it holds the attention of kids way longer than you’d expect. Parents get shaded seating, picnic tables, and solid sightlines, so you’re not constantly chasing anyone down. The open grass field backs up toward the forest, which means the whole place feels more like a trailhead than a city park. Dogs are welcome on the off-leash trail area, so it’s an easy stop to combine with a walk.
