If you live on the west side and haven’t figured out that Orenco Woods is one of Hillsboro’s better-kept secrets, you’re missing out. The playground hits a sweet spot for the toddler-through-elementary crowd — sand, water pumps, log climbing structures, musical equipment — it’s the kind of setup that keeps kids genuinely occupied while you actually sit down at a shaded picnic table. The trails through the trees and over the suspension bridges above Rock Creek are worth the visit on their own, honestly. Parking is easy, restrooms are there when you need them, and the open grass gives older kids room to run while the little ones dig in the sandbox.
