Shute Park

One of Hillsboro’s go-to spots, this park punches well above its weight for an urban green space. The playground keeps kids ages 2-12 busy with slides and swings, and the shade trees actually do their job on hot summer afternoons — you won’t be squinting the whole time. Walking paths loop around a solid open grass field, so there’s room for everyone from toddlers to anyone just needing a lap or two. Restrooms, picnic tables, and decent parking make it easy to actually stay a while instead of rushing out. It draws a real mix of locals, especially when outdoor events roll through, which happens more than you’d expect for a neighborhood park.
