Outpost Playground

If you haven’t made it out to this spot yet, you’re missing one of the better-kept secrets on the west side of the city. The climbing structure genuinely challenges older kids while the sandbox keeps the little ones busy for an embarrassingly long time — bring a change of clothes. You’re close enough to the beach that you get that salt air and, on a clear day, the views toward the Golden Gate are hard to beat. Restrooms are actually clean, there’s real parking (a miracle in SF), and the open grass field gives everyone room to spread out for a proper picnic. It’s the kind of place locals quietly love and hope doesn’t end up on too many tourist lists.
