The pirate ship structure is a genuine hit with the 5-to-12 crowd — slides, climbing, the whole deal — and it’s not the kind of generic equipment you see everywhere else. Picnic tables and shade trees mean you can actually settle in for a few hours without baking in the sun, which matters a lot in a DC summer. After the kids burn off energy on the playground, there’s a soccer field and open grass right there, plus a walking path if you want to stretch your legs with a river view. Parking is easy, restrooms are on-site, and the vibe is genuinely low-key — not overrun on weekends like some of the spots closer to the Mall.
